Lilly Fellows
CT-Based ceramic artist: From Kiln to Kitchen, Sculpting Nature’s Narrative.
I am a ceramic artist and BFA student at the Hartford Art School, specializing in high-relief sculpture and colorful glazing. My work ranges from detailed wheel-thrown pottery to small-scale lighting installations. I create pieces that feel both natural and a little bit magical. I am inspired by the textures of the New England landscape, whether capturing the form of a butterfly chrysalis,a sunset over the valley, or the colonial palettes of vintage ceramics. By integrating found elements such as cloth and hand-collected driftwood, I develop a unique patina thats brings a sense of whimsy and wonder to my lighting projects.
My approach to clay is deeply shaped by my 25 years as a professional chef. In the kitchen, I learned the importance of chemistry, timing, and presentation, skills I now use every day in the studio. Whether I’m applying a glaze or sculpting a delicate floral detail, I bring that same professional discipline and eye for detail to every piece I make.
